How it works.

Three steps, about 15 minutes of your time.

  1. Answer 6 quick questions.

So Sam knows what cover you have and what matters to you.

  2. Sam calls you at the time you pick.

It takes about 15 minutes, by phone, wherever you are in New Zealand.

  3. You’ll know where you stand.

What you’ve got, what it misses and what your options cost. No obligation to change anything.

Who this is for.

If one of these sounds like you, the call is worth it.

  • You’ve got a mortgage and people who rely on your income.

Would your cover hold up if one income stopped?

  • Your health premium keeps going up.

    Cancelling isn’t your only option.

  • Your cover came with the bank or your job.

Worth knowing what it pays, what it misses and whether it follows you if you leave.

  • You’re self employed.

ACC covers accidents. It doesn’t cover you if you get sick.

  • You took cover out years ago.

    And life has changed since.

Why Sheehan Financial.

Independent, so there’s no one company to push.

We’re an independently owned advice firm in Nelson, and we work with clients right across New Zealand by phone.

  • Independent.

We compare across a wide range of providers. Often the right answer is to change nothing.

  • You can ask anything.

You don’t need to know the terms. Bring the questions you think are basic.

  • We stick around.

Clients get an annual review, so things keep up as life changes.

  • Independence isn’t a slogan here.

Fair questions.

The ones people ask before they book.

Who will I talk to?

Sam Squire, Financial Adviser, with five years of advising behind him.

Is this a sales call?

No. Often the right answer is adjusting what you’ve got, or changing nothing.

Do I have to be in Nelson?

No. The review starts with a phone call and we work with clients right across New Zealand.

How long does it take?

About 15 minutes.

What will you ask me?

Who relies on your income, your debts, what cover you have now and what matters most to you.

Do I need my policy documents?

Handy if you have them. If not, the provider name is enough to start.

Can my partner join?

Yes, and it’s usually better if they do.

What happens after the call?

If it makes sense to go further, we’ll do a fact find, prepare a report with options and go through it with you.

Can you look at life, health and income cover together?

Yes. Most people find it easier to see the whole picture at once.

Will my premium go down?

Sometimes. Sometimes the answer is a different excess, a trimmed policy or another provider. We can’t promise a lower price.

Will you cancel my existing cover?

Never without you agreeing, and not before any new cover is in place.

Which insurers do you work with?

Including AIA, Partners Life, Fidelity Life, Asteron Life, nib, Southern Cross, Chubb and Accuro. The full list is in our disclosure statement.

I don’t want to be sold something I don’t need.

That’s the most common worry we hear. We compare across providers and you decide.

How do you get paid?

If you take out insurance we recommend, the insurer pays a commission to Sheehan Financial and/or your adviser, based on the premium. Sam will tell you the specific commission when advice is given.

The policy premium is separate. It’s all set out in our disclosure statement.

I reviewed my cover recently.

If it was with an adviser in the last year and nothing has changed, you may not need this. If your premium jumped or life changed, it’s worth a look.
